International Plowing Match and Rural Expo: Day Four - October 4, 2024

Issued on behalf of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo Local Committee.

Day Four of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) 2024 is here, and the excitement is building as we approach the final days of this incredible event. With only two days left, now is the perfect time to visit and experience everything the IPM has to offer.

Today marks the final day of competition for the plowmen and women vying for top honors. Horse plowing begins at 9:30am, and tractor plowing continues throughout the morning. Shuttle buses from Gate 2 will take visitors to the plowing fields, where they can watch the competitors in action.

“This is a crucial day for our plowing competitors, as today’s performances will determine the champions,” says Bob Armstrong, Chair of the IPM. “It’s always thrilling to see the best in the field show their skills.”

Kawartha Lakes Mayor Doug Elmslie welcomes visitors to explore the city.

“As the IPM showcases the incredible talent in agriculture, we also invite you to explore Kawartha Lakes, where you can enjoy our outdoor recreation, charming towns, and local businesses. We’re a community that welcomes visitors with open arms.”

In Tented City, the excitement continues with more than 500 vendors and exhibits to explore. Be sure to stop by the Holmes Agro Agricultural Showcase for demonstrations, including sheep shearing at 9:30am and a Ritchie Bros. Auctioneering Demonstration at 11am.

For entertainment, the Canadian Cowgirls will perform their incredible horseback drills at 10am and 1:30 PM, while the RAM Rodeo kicks off at 12pm. Music fans can enjoy performances by Four Lanes Wide on the Ontario Mutuals Main Stage throughout the afternoon.

“Tented City is alive with energy, and the entertainment lineup is fantastic,” says Armstrong. “Whether it’s the rodeo, live music, or our educational displays, there’s something for everyone.”

Visitors to the International Plowing Match are encouraged to use the designated ‘Visitor Parking’ area located at 293 Angeline Street South, with free parking available. Please note that there is no general public parking inside Tented City. For those interested in the plowing competitions, public parking is also not available at the plowing fields.

To reach the Tractor and Antique Plowing competitions, take the bus shuttle from Gate 2 inside Tented City.

For Horse Plowing, use Gate 1 from inside Tented City. Additionally, dogs and pets are not allowed in Tented City, Parking Fields, or the Plowing Fields, though working service animals are permitted.
