International Plowing Match and Rural Expo: Day Three - October 3, 2024
Issued on behalf of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo Local Committee.
Day three of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) 2024 offers a full schedule of engaging events and activities for visitors of all ages. As the IPM reaches its halfway point, the Lindsay Fairgrounds are buzzing with excitement, drawing thousands of attendees eager to experience everything from competitive plowing to live entertainment.
The day begins with the plowing competitions, where visitors can watch the impressive skill and technique of the participants in both horse and tractor plowing, starting at 9:30am. As the competition heats up, visitors can head to the Tented City to explore over 500 exhibitors showcasing the best in agricultural technology, local products, and rural living.
“Tented City is one of the highlights of the IPM. It’s a place where you can learn about the latest advancements in agriculture, shop local products, and enjoy interactive displays that celebrate rural life,” says Bob Armstrong, Chair of the IPM.
Kawartha Lakes Mayor Doug Elmslie adds the IPM is the perfect place to get a sense of all the great things happening in Kawartha Lakes.
“The IPM is a fantastic way to experience what Kawartha Lakes has to offer,” he said. “Whether it’s our rich agricultural history or our vibrant community, we hope you’ll find yourself wanting to come back and explore more of what our city has to offer.”
Today’s entertainment lineup includes performances by the Great Canadian Lumberjack Show at 10:30am and 2:30pm, as well as the Canadian Cowgirls at 1pm. On the Ontario Mutuals Main Stage, visitors can catch Four Lanes Wide and The Steel Horse Gypsies performing throughout the afternoon.
The Hydro One Education Centre continues to offer hands-on learning experiences for families, with livestock displays and activities designed to teach visitors about sustainable farming practices.
“There’s so much to see and do at the IPM, and we encourage everyone to make the most of it,” Armstrong adds. “From the competitions to the entertainment, it’s an event you won’t want to miss.”
