Plus a one-day schedule change at the Lindsay landfill

Landfill summer hours and seasonal waste collection start in May

Kawartha Lakes – As part of the regular seasonal schedule, landfill hours across the municipality will shift to summer hours starting May 1 and seasonal road curbside waste collection will resume on May 4. There is also a one-day schedule change at the Lindsay landfill in April. 

Temporary change at Lindsay landfill 

The Lindsay landfill will open later than usual (9am) on Tuesday, April 21. Regular hours will resume on Wednesday, April 22 (8am to 5pm). 

Summer landfill hours start May 1, 2026 

As of May 1, summer landfill hours are in effect at all of our sites. 

Eldon Landfill 
Wednesday: 9am to 5pm 
Saturday and Sunday: 11am to 5pm 
Holiday Mondays: 11am to 5pm 

Fenelon Landfill 
Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday: 9am to 5pm 
Holiday Mondays: 9am to 5pm 

Laxton Landfill 
Thursday and Sunday: 11am to 5pm 
Holiday Mondays: 11am to 5pm 

Lindsay Ops Landfill 
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8am to 5pm 
Saturday: 8am to 3pm 

NOTE: During summer landfill hours, the Lindsay Ops Landfill is closed Wednesdays for waste drop-off, but open for free compost and wood chip pick-up from 8am to 4pm. 

Somerville landfill 
Monday, Friday, and Saturday: 11am to 5pm 
Holiday Mondays: 11am to 5pm

Seasonal curbside collection returns May 4, 2026 

Curbside waste collection returns for seasonal residents the week of May 4. Please be reminded: 

  • all waste must be disposed of in clear bags 

  • recyclable materials must be sorted out of your garbage 

  • garbage and recycling must be kept clearly separated at the curb to prevent anything from being missed or tagged 

  • there is a two bag waste limit* 

  • waste must be set out by 7am on collection day

*Households in the Single Source Organics (SSO) program will be reduced to one bag of garbage effective June 15.
