Lindsay Drinking Water System update

The municipality would like to extend its sincere thanks to residents for their patience and understanding as we worked to resolve the July 4 emergency mechanical issue that resulted in discoloured water for some residents on the Lindsay municipal drinking water system.

The presence of sediment in watermains is a normal occurrence that can cause temporary discolouration, similar to what may be observed during routine watermain flushing. This sediment is made up of naturally occurring elements such as iron, manganese and calcium. While the sediment is not harmful, it can result in discoloured water.

We want to reassure residents that at no time was the safety of the drinking water compromised.

Staff are working diligently to flush system watermains, concentrating in areas where the majority of issues have been identified. We encourage any residents who are still experiencing issues to contact the municipality at 705-324-9411.
