Municipal hours of operation for Labour Day on Monday September 1, 2025

Kawartha Lakes – Please note the following changes to the municipality’s hours of operation and service schedules on Monday September 1, 2025 (Labour Day).

Administrative Offices
All administrative offices and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Monday September 1. Municipal Service Centres will return to regular business hours on Tuesday September 2.

Waste and Recycling
The Lindsay landfill will be closed on Monday September 1. The Fenelon landfill will be open for their regular scheduled hours on the holiday Monday from 9am to 5pm. The Eldon, Laxton and Somerville landfills will also be open from 11am to 5pm on the holiday Monday.

Please remember that all curbside waste and recycling collection will shift forward a day due to Labour Day:

• Monday September 1 collection moves to Tuesday September 2
• Tuesday September 2 collection moves to Wednesday September 3
• Wednesday September 3 collection moves to Thursday September 4
• Thursday September 4 collection moves to Friday September 5

Organics Program pick-up moves from Friday September 5 to Saturday September 6. Please be sure to have your organics rollout cart to your curb by 7am.

Public Library
All library branches will be closed on Monday September 1, with regular operating hours returning on Tuesday September 2.

Our Digital Library is always open! Access books, audio books, magazines and research databases all online.  All you need is your Kawartha Lakes Public Library card.

Lindsay Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday September 1.

Regular service will return on Tuesday September 2.

Parks and Recreation
All Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed on Monday September 1, 2025 for Labour Day. This includes the Administrative Office, all Recreation Centres, Arenas and Pools.

Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre in Bobcaygeon will resume regular hours on Tuesday September 2, 2025.

The Lindsay Recreation Complex weight room will reopen on Tuesday September 2, 2025. The pool will be closed for annual maintenance and is scheduled to reopen on Monday September 15, 2025.

Our Fall 2025 Kawartha Lakes Community Guide is now available! This digital publication highlights a variety of aquatic, fitness and leisure programs, along with information regarding our music programs and STEM programs. The fall guide also includes details on our community halls, parks, trails, forest tracts, beaches, boat launches and upcoming events, such as the Indoor Triathlon.

Long Weekend Reminders

Fireworks Use
Fireworks may only be used on the day before, the day of, and the day after the holiday (August 31 to September 2). Per By-Law 2007-236, Labour Day weekend is the last weekend of the year where consumer fireworks are permitted without the need for a permit.

Although the burn ban is lifted, the Burn Hazard Index remains at HIGH. Large amounts of storm debris from the April ice storm and only localized precipitation continue to create elevated fire risks. Residents are urged to use caution and follow all open-air burning and fireworks regulations.

If you notice someone having an out of control fire or unsafely setting off fireworks, please report it right away by calling 911. For all other non-emergency fire related complaints, please call Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service at 705-324-2191 and follow the prompts.

Please note that during long weekends this summer, there will be Municipal Law Enforcement Officers on staff until 1am to respond to complaints.
