Municipal hours of operation for Labour Day on Monday September 2, 2024
Kawartha Lakes – Please note the following changes to the municipality’s hours of operation and service schedules on Monday September 2 (Labour Day).
Administrative Offices
All administrative offices and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Monday September 2. Municipal Service Centres will return to regular business hours on Tuesday September 3.
Waste and Recycling
The Lindsay landfill will be closed on Monday September 2. The Fenelon landfill will be open for their regular scheduled hours on the holiday Monday from 9am to 5pm. The Eldon, Laxton and Somerville landfills will also be open from 11am to 5pm on the holiday Monday.
Please remember that all curbside waste and recycling collection will shift forward a day due to Labour Day:
- Monday September 2 collection moves to Tuesday September 3
- Tuesday September 3 collection moves to Wednesday September 4
- Wednesday September 4 collection moves to Thursday September 5
- Thursday September 5 collection moves to Friday September 6

Public Library
All library branches will be closed on Monday September 2, with regular operating hours returning on Tuesday September 3.

Lindsay Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday September 2.
Regular service will return on Tuesday September 3.
Parks and Recreation
All Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed on Monday September 2 for Labour Day. This includes the Administrative Office, all Recreation Centres, Arenas and Pools.
The Weight Room at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and Forbert Memorial Pool, Bobcaygeon will resume regular hours on Tuesday September 3.

This digital publication highlights a variety of aquatic, fitness and leisure programs, along with information regarding our Fall Equinox Photography, Introduction to Hip Hop and Accessible Skating programs. The fall guide also includes details on our community halls, parks, trails, forest tracts, beaches, boat launches and upcoming events, such as the Indoor Triathlon.

Did you know that we’re developing a new Parks and Recreation strategic plan? Our goal is to create a plan that works for the community, but we can’t do that without your input!

Long Weekend Reminders
Fireworks Use
Fireworks may only be used on the day before, the day of, and the day after the holiday (September 1 to 3). Per By-Law 2007-236 (download), Labour Day weekend is the last weekend of the year where consumer fireworks are permitted without the need for a permit.

If you notice someone having an out of control fire or unsafely setting off fireworks, please report it right away by calling 911. For all other non-emergency fire related complaints, please call Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service at 705-324-2191 and follow the prompts.
