Municipal hours of operation for Thanksgiving on Monday October 13, 2025
Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes – Please note the following changes to the municipality’s hours of operation and service schedules on Monday October 13, 2025 (Thanksgiving).
Administrative Offices
All administrative offices and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Monday October 13. Municipal Service Centres will return to regular business hours on Tuesday October 14.
As a result, all four Municipal Service Centres (Bobcaygeon, Coboconk, Lindsay and Omemee), along with the municipality’s general inquiry Customer Service phone line will be unavailable during this time. For any municipal emergencies during this closure, please contact 1-877-885-7337.
Waste and Recycling
The Lindsay landfill will be closed on Monday October 13. The Fenelon landfill will be open for their regular scheduled hours on the holiday Monday from 9am to 5pm. The Eldon, Laxton and Somerville landfills will also be open from 11am to 5pm on the holiday Monday.
Please remember that all curbside waste and recycling collection will shift forward a day due to Thanksgiving:
- Monday October 13 collection moves to Tuesday October 14
- Tuesday October 14 collection moves to Wednesday October 15
- Wednesday October 15 collection moves to Thursday October 16
- Thursday October 16 collection moves to Friday October 17
Green bin organics collection in the urban areas of Lindsay, Fenelon, Bobcaygeon, and Omemee also move ahead due to the holiday:
· Friday October 17 collection moves to Saturday October 18
Please note that winter hours at the landfills will go into effect starting on Thursday October 16 and seasonal road collection ends on Friday October 24. Visit the Landfill page for full landfill hours or look at the last page in your 2025 Municipal Calendar to learn more.
Public Library
All library branches will be closed on Monday October 13, with regular operating hours returning on Tuesday October 14.
October is National Library Month and the third week of October is Ontario Public Library Week (October 19 to 25). Celebrate the vital role our public libraries play in enhancing education, fostering literacy, and building community connections in Kawartha Lakes Join in the fun by participating in our library programs and our Library Mystery Challenge, play along on social media or visit your local branch during Ontario Public Library Week!
Lindsay Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday October 13.
Regular service will return on Tuesday October 14.
Parks and Recreation
All Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed Monday October 13, 2024 for Thanksgiving. This includes the administrative office, all recreation facilities, arenas and pools. Facilities will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday October 14.
Please note that there will be no swimming or fitness classes, lessons and/or programs from Saturday October 11 through Monday October 13.
Looking for something fun to do with the family this holiday weekend? Public swims will be running at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and at the Forbert Memorial Pool in Bobcaygeon on Saturday October 11 and Sunday October 12. Public skating will also be available at the Fenelon Falls, Little Britain, Manvers, and Woodville Community Centres, as well as the Lindsay Recreation Complex on Saturday October 11 or Sunday October 12, 2024.
