Parks Canada begins structural repairs at Elliot Falls Dam
Kawartha Lakes – Parks Canada advises that structural repairs will begin shortly at the Elliot Falls Dam, located in Kawartha Lakes near Norland on the Gull River.
These works are part of an ongoing commitment to maintain the safety and functionality of critical water management infrastructure across the Trent-Severn Waterway system.
An inspection of the dam has confirmed deterioration of the concrete structure. While the dam poses no immediate danger, the project will involve a pier patching program to ensure the dam’s continued operability and repairs to the channels that hold the stop logs in place. No changes to current water management practices are required to complete this work.
Timeline: November 2024 through February 2025
Note: Work will pause for a two-week holiday shutdown over Christmas
Public Access: Public access across the Elliot Falls Dam is closed in the interest of public safety. Residents are reminded to adhere to posted signage and avoid restricted areas for their protection.
Parks Canada would like to thank area residents and visitors for their patience and understanding. If you would like to receive updates via email, please get in touch with us at trentsevern@pc.gc.ca and include “Elliot Falls Dam” in the subject line.
