Reminder: keep fire hydrants clear of snow and ice
Kawartha Lakes – Do you have a fire hydrant near your home or business? If so, the municipality is asking you to help us rescue our fire hydrants from being buried in the snow. Obstructed fire hydrants can create a delay in firefighting operations. The Ontario Fire Code mandates that fire hydrants be maintained free of snow and ice and be readily available and unobstructed for use at all times.
Your shovel and a few minutes of your time, could help save a life.
Every time it snows, be sure to show your fire hydrant some extra love by shoveling some space out around it so that emergency workers can see and access the hydrant easily in the event of an emergency.
Please help us assist Water Operations staff and the Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service in keeping all Kawartha Lakes fire hydrants free of snow and ice this winter.
Your hydrant, municipal staff and your neighbours thank you!
