Routine Sanitary Sewer Flushing - Lindsay - Monday April 7, 2025
Routine sanitary sewer flushing set to begin April 7, 2025
Kawartha Lakes – Routine sanitary sewer flushing is set to begin in Kawartha Lakes this week.
The contractor will be starting in Lindsay on April 7, 2025 with one truck working in the area of Richard Avenue and Kirkconnell Road and a second truck working in the area of Thrushwood Trail and Blueberry Lane. Locations will change and will be updated as received.
The sanitary sewer flushing will take place between 7am and 5pm from Monday to Friday.
This annual preventative maintenance is necessary to remove settled and accumulated material from our sewer lines. The flushing will also help to eliminate the potential for sanitary sewer main surcharging which can result in damage to property.
During this process, the contractor will be setting up apparatus at manholes in the roadway and releasing pressurized water through the sanitary sewer main pipe to remove any debris buildup. As a result, a bubbling and/or vacuum effect may be noticed in your drains and toilets. It is recommended that residents close all toilet seats and cover any floor drains.
After your area has been completed, the municipality recommends refilling all plumbing traps in your home by running the water in your sinks and floor drains to prevent sewer gases from migrating into the home.
Please note that routine sanitary sewer flushing only happens in Bobcaygeon, Coboconk, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay and Omemee as they are the only City of Kawartha Lakes areas with wastewater collection systems.
We will provide notice through our social media channels as the work gets scheduled. Stay in the loop by following us on Facebook and X (Twitter).
