Temporary Disruption to Mattress Recycling Services

UPDATE November 21, 2:25pm: The temporary disruption has ended and mattress recycling operations are back to business as usual. Thank you for your understanding.

Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes is advising residents of a temporary disruption to mattress recycling services following a fire at the contractor’s processing facility.

Due to the incident, residents are asked to refrain from dropping off mattresses at the Lindsay Ops Landfill until further notice, to help reduce on-site storage and operational pressures during this temporary service interruption. Note: The landfill will continue to accept mattresses brought directly by residents, however, delaying drop-off where possible is appreciated.

In addition, the municipality is temporarily suspending the sale of curbside mattress pick-up stickers at all Service Centres and Libraries. Any curbside mattress stickers already purchased will be honoured, and mattresses set out for collection with a valid sticker will still be collected by Miller Waste.

Updates on mattress recycling services will be provided as soon as more information is available. Thank you for your patience as we work with our contractor to restore full service.
