Municipal services and hours of operation over the 2025 holiday break

Kawartha Lakes – Please take note of the following changes to our municipal services and hours of operation over the holiday break. 

Municipal Administration

All municipal administration offices will close at 12pm on Wednesday December 24, 2025 and re-open at 8:30am on Friday January 2, 2026. This includes:

  • City Hall and Provincial Offences, 26 Francis Street, Lindsay
  • People Services Office, 28 Francis Street, Lindsay*
  • All Municipal Service Centres (Bobcaygeon, Coboconk, Lindsay and Omemee)
  • Development Services, 180 Kent Street West, Lindsay
  • Municipal Law Enforcement Administration, 37 Lindsay Street South, Lindsay
  • Community Services Administration, 50 Wolfe Street, Lindsay
  • Public Works Administration and Engineering and Assets, 322 Kent Street West, Lindsay*

*Note: 28 Francis Street and 322 Kent Street West are not regularly open to the public. 

Municipal Waste Services 

All landfills will be closed on:  

  • Thursday, December 25,
  • Friday, December 26, and
  • Thursday, January 1 

The Lindsay Ops and Eldon Landfills will be open on Wednesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 31 from 8am to 12pm. All other landfills will be closed. 

Landfills will be open to the public for regular business hours from Saturday, December 27 to Tuesday, December 30. After the Thursday, January 1 closure, landfills will return to regular business hours on Friday January 2, 2026.  

Due to Christmas falling on Thursday, December 25, all regular collection days following December 25 will be moved forward one day: 

  • Thursday’s collection will be Friday, December 26 (Boxing Day) 
  • Friday’s organics collection will be Saturday, December 27 

Due to the holiday on Thursday, January 1, all regular collection days following January 1 will be moved forward one day: 

  • Thursday’s collection will be Friday, January 2
  • Friday’s organics collection will be Saturday, January 3 

Recycling Program Reminders 

As of January 1, 2026, a new provider will be collecting residential recycling – Emterra. Miller is still collecting your waste, so you’ll see two trucks on your designated collection day. For more details, visit the Residential Waste Collection page. 

Also as of January 1, commercial recycling will no longer be collected. Businesses can continue to recycle by using the City’s five landfill depot locations (tipping fees apply) or by arranging private recycling collection. For more details, visit the Commercial Recycling Updates page.

Public Library 

All Kawartha Lakes Public Library branches will operate according to the below schedule: 

  • Wednesday, December 24: 10am-2pm*
  • Thursday, December 25: Closed
  • Friday, December 26: Closed
  • Saturday, December 27: Closed
  • Monday, December 29: Regular hours
  • Tuesday, December 30: Regular hours
  • Wednesday, December 31: 10am-2pm*
  • Thursday, January 1: Closed 

*Note: Only applies to library branches that are regularly open on Wednesdays. 

Regular operating hours for all branches will resume on Friday, January 2.

Parks and Recreation 

The Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, located at 50 Wolfe Street in Lindsay, will be closed from 12pm on December 24, 2025, through to and including January 1, 2026.  

Please see below schedules for our recreation centres over the holidays. 

Lindsay Recreation Complex (LRC): 

  • Wednesday, December 24: Closes at 12pm
  • Thursday, December 25 and Friday December 26: Closed
  • Wednesday, December 31: Closes at 12pm
  • Thursday, January 1: Closed  

Note: The Weight Room hours at the LRC on December 24 and 31 will be from 6am to 11:30am.  

Parks and Recreation will be offering a holiday fitness class schedule at the LRC for current members from December 22 to January 3 on the days that the facility is open. 

Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre (Bobcaygeon) 

  • Wednesday, December 24: Closes at 12pm
  • Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26: Closed
  • Wednesday, December 31: Closes at 12pm
  • Thursday, January 1: Closed

Free Holiday Public Skating opportunities are taking place at various Community Centres throughout the municipality, courtesy of Parks and Recreation and a variety of local sponsors. Transit 

Lindsay Transit service operates on a holiday schedule on the following dates: 

  • Wednesday, December 24: 7am - 7pm
  • Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day): No Service
  • Wednesday, December 31: 7am - 7pm
  • Thursday, January 1 (New Year's Day): No Service 

Transit will be running business as usual during the rest of the holiday break.

Human Services 

The Human Services offices located at 68 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay and 49 Maple Avenue, Haliburton will be: 

  • Closed to the public at noon (12pm) on Wednesday, December 24 and reopen on Monday, December 29. 

  • Closed again at noon (12pm) on Wednesday, December 31 and reopen on Friday January 2, 2026. 


Reporting an issue or concern 

Should you wish to report an issue or concern over the holiday break, please continue to use our online form. Service requests will still be received online and staff will respond once administration has re-opened. To report an After Hours Municipal Emergency, call 1-877-885-7337.
