Being Canadian, we all know how weather can effect our communities. During the 2025 Ice Storm, Kawartha Lakes experienced damage in many ways; in addition, there was significant damage to outdoor spaces.

Municipal staff have been working tirelessly through cleanup and our communities are so close to having all outdoor spaces fully functional and back to 'Jump In' status for all to enjoy.

Kawartha Lakes – As Pride Month 2025 wraps up, Kawartha Lakes Pride is about to start local Pride celebrations. July 7 to 13 is Pride Week in Kawartha Lakes, celebrating the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Events will be held that promote inclusivity, diversity, and unity.

On Monday July 7, 2025 at 10am, there will be a Pride flag-raising ceremony at City Hall (26 Francis Street) in Lindsay.

Kawartha Lakes – At the June 24, 2025 Regular Council meeting, Council approved an amendment to Building By-law 2024-219 that introduces a new fee exemption for property owners who remove illegal storm water connections from the municipal sanitary sewer system. 

Kawartha Lakes - Kawartha Lakes Public Library is inviting residents to help shape the future of the library by participating in a new community survey launching this week.

As Kawartha Lakes continues to grow, the library needs to grow with it. The City of Kawartha Lakes has advanced the detailed design of a new bridge crossing over the Scugog River, connecting Colborne Street East and Colborne Street West (see figure below) in the Town of Lindsay. This detailed design work builds on the preliminary design recommendations of the original 1994 Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) and the 2000 EA Addendum. Due to the time that has passed since the last EA update, an additional EA Addendum is being undertaken to reconfirm the findings of the previous assessment and fulfill current requirements under the Municipal Class EA process (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2023).
