    Storm Update for Kawartha Lakes – April 4, 2025

    Kawartha Lakes – The City of Kawartha Lakes Emergency Operations Centre met this morning to assess ongoing storm recovery efforts.

    Key updates:

    In many critical municipal facilities, power and water has been restored. We are focused on providing resident supports through those locations.

    Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a Flood Warning for Black and Burnt River Watershed

    The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) – Bancroft Work Centre is advising area residents that a Flood Warning is in effect for the Black River and Burnt River watershed in the Peterborough Bancroft District until Friday April 11, 2025.

    Residents should expect water levels to rise and river flows to increase through the April 5 to April 6 weekend and into the week of April 7 to April 11. Runoff into local lakes and rivers has increased significantly with recent rainfall, snow melt, and warm weather.

    Kawartha Lakes - Kawartha Conservation has extended the Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Watch that was issued on Monday March 31, 2025 until 12pm on Monday April 7, 2025.

  • Boil Water Advisory for the Norland Drinking Water System has been rescinded

    Kawartha Lakes - The Boil Water Advisory issued on Monday, March 31, 2025 for the Norland Drinking Water System located in Village of Norland, Ontario has been rescinded by the Medical Officer of Health.
    Persons using the water supply from the Norland Drinking Water System are no longer required to boil their drinking water.  The water is safe for human consumption.

    Organics collection container requirements modified due to ice storm

    Kawartha Lakes – Due to the impacts of the ongoing ice storm emergency in Kawartha Lakes, we’re expecting more organics food waste than usual.

    As a result, we will be increasing organics collection efforts for households in the Organics Program.

  • Storm Update for Kawartha Lakes – morning of April 3, 2025

    Kawartha Lakes – The City of Kawartha Lakes Emergency Operations Centre met this morning to assess ongoing storm recovery efforts. Significant portions throughout the City remain without electricity. Our focus remains supporting those residents and communities, while clearing debris and supporting Hydro One’s efforts to bring power back online.

  • Lindsay Wastewater System currently bypassing - April 3, 2025

    Kawartha Lakes – Beginning at approximately 5am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Lindsay Wastewater System – Rivera Park Sewage Pumping Station is currently bypassing, releasing untreated sewage into the Scugog River.    

    The Lindsay Wastewater System is currently receiving higher than normal sewage flows due to extreme wet weather, and the amount of wastewater entering the sewer system has exceeded the capacity of the system. The impact of the spill on water quality will be minimal given dilution due to significant rainfall, however residents drawing water downstream from the Rivera Park Sewage Pumping Station should take precautions.

  • Fenelon Falls Wastewater System currently bypassing - April 3, 2025

    Kawartha Lakes – Beginning at approximately 6am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Fenelon Falls Wastewater System – Colborne St. and Francis St. East Sewage Pumping Stations are currently bypassing, releasing untreated sewage into the Fenelon River.
