Kawartha Lakes – Construction starts this week on Colborne Street West and William Street North as part of the Colborne Street Access Road Construction and Watermain Relocation Project. The work supports construction of the new Colborne Street bridge.
The project includes:
- Relocating a watermain
- Constructing a new municipal access road
- Demolishing a building at the Colborne Street and William Street intersection
- Restoring the roadway following construction
Construction is expected to take place from October 5 to December 15, weather permitting.
Road closures and traffic impacts

Starting October 13: Colborne Street West will be closed between William Street North and the Carew Apartments parking lot entrance for the duration of construction. Access to the Carew Apartments will only be available from Pottinger Street.
October 19 to November 9: The intersection of William Street North and Colborne Street West will be fully closed while the watermain is relocated and connected. There will be no through traffic at the intersection, but local access will be maintained. Detour routes and traffic control signs will be in place.
Motorists should follow posted detour signs and use caution around workers and construction equipment.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
