Deadline for 2026 City Council and School Board Trustees nominations fast approaching

Kawartha Lakes – There are only a couple of weeks left to nominate yourself for City Council and School Board Trustees. The deadline to file a nomination paper (with 25 elector endorsement signatures for City Council offices) is 2pm on Friday August 21, 2026.

Walk-in nomination appointments will only be permitted on Nomination Day (August 21) from 9am to 2pm. Please book a Candidate Nomination Appointment for dates prior to August 21 by calling 705-324-9411 extension 1888 

Nominations are currently open for the following elected offices: 

• Kawartha Lakes City Council 

• • Mayor (1 elected at large) 

• • Ward Councillor (8 elected total, 1 for each ward) 

• Trillium Lakelands District School Board (English – Public) 

• • School Board Trustee (5 for Kawartha Lakes, 1 per trustee district) 

• Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board (English – Separate) 

• • School Board Trustee (1 elected at large for Kawartha Lakes) 

• Conseil scolaire Viamonde (French - Public)  

• • School Board Trustee (1 elected for Sector 1, including Kawartha Lakes and several other Ontario municipalities – Nominations filed at City of Oshawa) 

• Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (French - Separate) 

• • School Board Trustee (1 elected for Region 11, including Kawartha Lakes and several other Ontario municipalities – Nominations filed at City of Oshawa)
