Kawartha Lakes - Are you ready to start your business? Maybe you've already taken the leap and are ready to grow? The Starter Company PLUS Fall 2026 Cohort is coming to Kawartha Lakes, and applications open September 4, 2026. 

And here's the exciting part: participants will get a grant of up to $5,000 to help move their business forward. 

Starter Company PLUS is designed for entrepreneurs at different stages of their business journey. Maybe you're ready to launch a new venture, or building a business that's already underway. The program offers practical training, mentorship, resources, and support to help you turn your goals into action. 

Your business. Your ideas. Your next step. 

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to entrepreneurship, and there shouldn't be. 

All types of businesses are welcome to apply. Starter Company PLUS could be a great fit for retail, trades, professional services, creative industries, agriculture, food, tourism, technology, or something completely different. 

Participants will have the opportunity to: 

• Learn practical skills to help run and grow a successful business
• Connect with experienced mentors and other local entrepreneurs
• Work on their business plan and strengthen their business strategy
• Explore marketing, finances, operations, and business growth
• Receive ongoing support throughout the program
• Receive a grant of up to $5,000 to invest in their business 

“This program is about giving local entrepreneurs the tools, confidence, connections, and support they need to move their businesses forward,” says Sandy Greenberg, Economic Development Officer – Small Business Programs. “We know that businesses come in all shapes and sizes, and we're excited to welcome entrepreneurs from across Kawartha Lakes to the Fall 2026 cohort.”
