Kawartha Lakes Welcomes the Inaugural Kawartha Kids Triathlon

Children and youth in Kawartha Lakes and surrounding communities will have a new opportunity to swim, bike and run when the inaugural Kawartha Kids Triathlon takes place on Sunday June 27, 2027 at Garnet Graham Beach Park in Fenelon Falls.

Designed to introduce children and youth to the excitement of a triathlon in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment, the Kawartha Kids Triathlon will give participants the opportunity to take on age-appropriate swim, bike and run distances all while celebrating participation and personal achievement.

The event will welcome young athletes ages three to fifteen years old (3 to 15), with distances and race experiences designed to suit different age groups and abilities. Participants will swim, bike and run their way through the event before crossing the finish line and celebrating their accomplishment with family, friends and the community.

The Kawartha Kids Triathlon will feature a capped field of approximately 120 participants, to help provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Every participant will receive an event t-shirt, swim cap and finisher medal. Race timing will be provided by Sportstats.

“A triathlon is such a great way for kids to discover new activities, challenge themselves and have fun,” said Sarah Purdy, Community Development Coordinator with the City of Kawartha Lakes. “We wanted to create an event that is welcoming for children of all abilities, that gives them the chance to experience the excitement of a triathlon in a safe and supportive environment.”

The event will take place at Garnet Graham Beach Park in Fenelon Falls. Participant parking and race-kit pick-up will take place at the Fenelon Falls Arena.
