Community fundraising contributes $30,000 toward elevator project and $50,000 toward parking lot and lighting improvements
Manvers Arena Volunteer Management Board helps bring accessible elevator to Community Centre
Kawartha Lakes – The City of Kawartha Lakes is recognizing the Manvers Arena Volunteer Management Board for its financial contribution to the elevator project at Manvers Arena and Community Centre. Their support has helped improve accessibility at the facility.
The board contributed $30,000 toward the elevator project through local fundraising initiatives, including community dances, hockey tournaments and donations.
The elevator project is one of several improvements supported by the board. In 2022, the board contributed $50,000 toward the Manvers Arena and Community Centre parking lot and lighting project, bringing their combined contribution total to $80,000 to date.

“We are proud to see the continued improvements at the Manvers Arena and Community Centre,” shared Paul Richardson, President, and Nick Carchidi, Vice-President, of the Manvers Arena Volunteer Management Board. “The residents of Manvers stepped up and supported our fundraising initiatives, and the City partnered with us because they recognized our commitment to improving this important community hub.”
“One of our biggest goals was to install an accessible elevator, and we are thrilled to see that goal become a reality. This is an important step toward making the facility more accessible and welcoming for everyone in our community.”
“I’m proud to have been part of the Manvers Arena and Community Centre volunteer board since 2017,” said Deputy Mayor Tracy Richardson. “This project is a great example of what can be accomplished when dedicated volunteers, residents, and the City work together toward a shared goal.”
“The new elevator is an important milestone, improving accessibility and creating more opportunities for residents and community groups to use the facility for rentals and events,” continued Deputy Mayor Richardson. “Seeing these improvements come to life is exciting, and with the planned ice pad and further facility upgrades ahead, there is a lot for the Manvers community to look forward to.
“Our community hub continues to grow stronger through the commitment, collaboration, and generosity of the people who support it.”
The City thanks the Manvers Arena Volunteer Management Board and everyone who contributed to these efforts for their continued support of the Manvers community.
