Spring curbside leaf and yard collection is back

Kawartha Lakes – Spring curbside leaf and yard waste collection returns this June.

Please place leaf and yard materials in dry paper bags at your curb before 7am on your designated date.

If your waste is collected on Mondays and Wednesdays, your leaf and yard waste collection will take place on Friday, June 5.

If your waste is collected on Tuesdays and Thursdays, your leaf and yard waste collection will take place on Friday, June 12.

Leaf and yard waste best practices

  • Bags need to be kept dry, wet bags will be left behind

  • All leaf and yard waste must be set out in paper bags or neatly bundled

  • If the material is set out on your regular waste collection day, it will not be collected

Supporting pollinators in Kawartha Lakes

Kawartha Lakes is proud to be recognized as a Bee City through Bee City Canada, reflecting the municipality’s commitment to supporting pollinator health and habitat.

Bee City Canada recommends waiting to do spring yard cleanup until temperatures are consistently above 10°C. This gives bees and other pollinators time to emerge from leaves, plant stems and garden areas where they may have spent the winter. In support of these practices, spring leaf and yard waste collection takes place later in the season.

You may choose to leave some leaves, hollow stems and dead stalks in garden beds or natural areas where possible to help support pollinators.

For more information about leaf and yard collection and other waste reduction initiatives, see the Diversion Programs and Events page.
