What if I don’t receive my Voting PIN Letter?

If you have not received your Voting PIN Letter by October 13, visit City Hall or a Municipal Service Centre, or register to vote online.

Please bring accepted identification that shows your identity and Kawartha Lakes address.

You can also check your mailing address and voter information online at kawarthalakes.voterservices.ca

Did you receive a PIN Letter for someone who no longer lives at your address?

If you receive a Voting PIN Letter for a previous resident, an adult child who has moved away or someone who has died, please do not open the letter.

Write one of the following on the front of the envelope:

  • Return to Sender – Moved

  • Return to Sender – Deceased

Then place the unopened letter in any Canada Post mailbox. This helps improve the Voters’ List for future elections.

Did you receive more than one Voting PIN Letter from the City of Kawartha Lakes?

In rare cases, you may receive more than one Voting PIN Letter in your name. This can happen when different information, such as your name or date of birth, appears on the Voters’ List.

If you receive a duplicate letter, contact the Elections Office at 705-324-9411 extension 1888 or election@kawarthalakes.ca.

Election staff will confirm which PIN you should use and deactivate the duplicate if needed.

You may only vote once in the Kawartha Lakes Municipal Election. Voting more than once, or using someone else’s Voting PIN, is against the Municipal Elections Act.

Do you own or rent property in another municipality?

You may also receive a Voting PIN Letter from another Ontario municipality.

Eligible voters may be allowed to vote in the municipality where they live and in another municipality where they or their spouse own or rent property. Examples include a cottage or farmland.

If you have questions about your Voting PIN Letter, contact the municipality where the property is located.
