Our focus remains supporting those residents and communities, while clearing debris and supporting Hydro One’s efforts to bring power back online.
Kawartha Lakes – Beginning at approximately 5am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Lindsay Wastewater System – Rivera Park Sewage Pumping Station is currently bypassing, releasing untreated sewage into the Scugog River.
The Lindsay Wastewater System is currently receiving higher than normal sewage flows due to extreme wet weather, and the amount of wastewater entering the sewer system has exceeded the capacity of the system. The impact of the spill on water quality will be minimal given dilution due to significant rainfall, however residents drawing water downstream from the Rivera Park Sewage Pumping Station should take precautions.
Kawartha Lakes – Beginning at approximately 6am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Fenelon Falls Wastewater System – Colborne St. and Francis St. East Sewage Pumping Stations are currently bypassing, releasing untreated sewage into the Fenelon River.

A quote from our Mayor: "Hydro has told us this is the worst storm Ontario has seen since 1998, and the damage is unlike anything they’ve dealt with in years. Crews—along with contractors and support from 18 other utilities—are working around the clock to get power back to the 208,000 customers still without electricity. Since Friday night, they've already restored service to over 783,000 homes and businesses."
Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service is reminding residents that the annual burn ban remains in effect despite the significant damage caused by the recent ice storm.
Over the weekend, our community faced severe impacts, including downed trees, widespread power outages, and hazardous conditions. Our emergency responders have been working around the clock to assist residents and respond to all types of urgent calls.
