About Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service
Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service Operates 24/7 , responding to nearly 14,000 calls annually across more than 3,000 km². Having a fleet of 14 ambulances and 3 emergency response units (ERUs) stationed throughout the municipality, our highly trained paramedics deliver critical care – often navigating lakes, seasonal roads and rural terrain to reach patients quickly.
Led by Chief Sara Johnston, the service includes 112 paramedics, supported by logistics and administrative staff. Despite rising call volumes, we continue to meet provincial standards and closely monitor response time targets.
In addition to emergency response, our Community Paramedic Program provides scheduled, non-urgent care to eligible residents – helping individuals manage chronic conditions, avoid unnecessary hospital visits, and receive support in their own homes.
