Municipal hours of operation for Labour Day Weekend 2026

Kawartha Lakes – Please note the following changes to our hours of operation and service schedules due to the holiday on Monday September 7, 2026 (Labour Day).

Administration Offices

All Administration offices and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Monday, September 7 and will return to regular business hours on Tuesday, September 8.

Waste Collection and Landfills

Please see the Labour Day landfill schedule below.

• Lindsay Ops: Closed
• Fenelon: 9am to 5pm
• Somerville: 11am to 5pm
• Eldon: 11am to 5pm
• Laxton: 11am to 5pm

All landfills will return to regular operating hours on Tuesday, September 8.

Please remember that curbside waste, recycling and organics collection will shift forward one day due to the Labour Day Holiday:

• Monday, September 7 collection moves to Tuesday, September 8
• Tuesday, September 8 collection moves to Wednesday, September 9
• Wednesday, September 9 collection moves to Thursday, September 10
• Thursday, September 10 collection moves to Friday, September 11

As a reminder, organics are now collected on the same day as your regular garbage pick up.

Kawartha Lakes Public Library

All library branches will be closed on Monday, September 7, with regular operating hours returning on Tuesday, September 8.

Back to School

Get ready for back to school with help from Kawartha Lakes Public Library! Discover books, learning resources, homework help, and digital tools for students of all ages.

Adults can also explore free online courses, language learning, and professional development through the Digital Library with a Kawartha Lakes Public Library card.

Lindsay Transit

There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday, September 7. Regular service will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

Parks and Recreation

All Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed and programming cancelled on Monday, September 7. This includes the administrative office, all recreation centres, arenas and pools.  

The weight room at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and the weight room and pool at Forbert Memorial Pool in Bobcaygeon will resume regular hours on Tuesday, September 8.

Public skating will take place at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and public swimming will take place at Forbert Memorial Pool on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6. Visit our Online Program Registration website to view schedules.

Fireworks and Campfires

Fireworks may only be used on the day before, the day of, and the day after the holiday (September 6 to 8).

If you notice someone having an out-of-control fire or unsafely setting off fireworks, please report it right away by calling 911. For all other non-emergency fire related complaints, please call Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service at 705-324-5731 and follow the prompts.
