Municipal hours of operation for the Civic Holiday on Monday August 3, 2026

Kawartha Lakes – Please note the following changes to our hours of operation and service schedules on Monday August 3, 2026 (Civic Holiday).

Administration Offices 

All Administration offices and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Monday, August 3 and will return to regular business hours on Tuesday, August 4. 

Waste Collection and Landfills 

Please see the Civic Holiday landfill schedule below.

• Lindsay Ops: Closed
• Fenelon: 9am to 5pm
• Somerville: 11am to 5pm
• Eldon: 11am to 5pm
• Laxton: 11am to 5pm 

All landfills will return to regular operating hours on Tuesday, August 4. 

Please remember that curbside waste, recycling and organics collection will shift forward one day due to the Civic Holiday: 

• Monday, August 3 collection moves to Tuesday, August 4
• Tuesday, August 4 collection moves to Wednesday, August 5
• Wednesday, August 5 collection moves to Thursday, August 6
• Thursday, August 6 collection moves to Friday, August 7 

As a reminder, organics are now collected on the same day as your regular garbage pick up. 

Public Library 

All library branches will be closed on Monday, August 3, with regular operating hours returning on Tuesday, August 4. 

When branches reopen on Tuesday, August 4, families can also take part in the Safe In and Around the Water program at the Lindsay Library Branch from 11:30am to 12:30pm. This free program helps children and their parents or guardians learn how to stay safe around pools, lakes, rivers and while boating. Participants will learn how to recognize hazards, prevent accidents and make safe choices around water. 

The Digital Library is available every day of the year! Library patrons can access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and research databases online with a Kawartha Lakes Public Library card. 

Lindsay Transit 

There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday, August 3. Regular service will resume on Tuesday, August 4. 

Parks and Recreation 

All Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed and programming cancelled on Monday, August 3 for the Civic Holiday. This includes the administrative office, all recreation centres, arenas and pools.   

There will be no swimming lessons on Sunday, August 2. 

The weight room and pools at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and Forbert Memorial Pool in Bobcaygeon will resume regular hours on Tuesday, August 4.  

Summer Day Camp Programs at the Lindsay Recreation Complex will resume regular hours on Tuesday, August 4.  

Public Swimming and Public Skating will take place at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and Forbert Memorial Pool on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2. Visit our Online Program Registration website to view schedules.

Fireworks and Campfires 

Permits are always required for all types of display fireworks (professional fireworks such as pyrotechnic) and for consumer fireworks being discharged in public spaces, such as a park.  

The Civic Holiday is not included in By-Law 2007-236, which means a permit is required to discharge fireworks on private property.

If you notice someone having an out-of-control fire or unsafely setting off fireworks, please report it right away by calling 911. For all other non-emergency fire related complaints, please call Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service at 705-324-5731 and follow the prompts.
