Volunteer firefighting is a unique opportunity to gain life-saving skills, build lasting connections and help keep Kawartha Lakes safe.

Volunteer firefighters play a vital role in protecting people, property and the environment. They respond to emergencies including fires, medical calls and rescue situations, while also supporting public education and fire prevention initiatives.

Successful applicants will join a highly trained and supportive team, gaining valuable skills through hands-on experience and ongoing training. Volunteer firefighting offers opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills and give back locally.

We’re recruiting for all 19 fire stations across the municipality.

  • Fire station addresses can be found on our Fire Services webpage.
  • In order to be considered, your permanent residence must be within 15 kilometres of the nearest fire station. 
  • Only apply to the fire station closest to your permanent residence.
