Short-Term Rentals: Stay There Responsibly in Kawartha Lakes
Kawartha Lakes – The arrival of cottage season means more people are enjoying everything Kawartha Lakes has to offer. With visitors arriving throughout the summer, it’s a good time for short-term rental (STR) owners, guests and neighbours to learn about the resources available to help everyone Stay There Responsibly.
"Short-term rentals play an important role in welcoming visitors to Kawartha Lakes and supporting our local economy," said Aaron Sloan, Manager of Municipal Law Enforcement. "Our goal is to make sure everyone has the information they need to enjoy their time here while helping keep our communities safe, welcoming and enjoyable for all."
Short-Term Rental Owners
If you rent all or part of your property for a period of less than 28 consecutive days, you are required to have a Short-Term Rental Accommodation Licence. The licencing program helps ensure rental properties meet safety requirements and provides owners with resources to operate responsibly.
Owners are encouraged to share local information and rental guidelines with their guests before they arrive.
You can apply, renew, or find more information at www.kawarthalakes.ca/STRowners
