Boil Water Advisory for users of the Norland Drinking Water System in Norland
Kawartha Lakes - The Medical Officer of Health has directed the City of Kawartha Lakes to issue a Drinking Water Advisory on March 31, 2025 due to a loss of pressure in the distribution system due to a short generator failure at the Water Treatment facility. Notices have been hand delivered to residents.
This tap water can make you ill. The elderly, the very young and people with weakened immune systems are most at risk.

The freezing rain storm continues to have widespread impacts across the municipality. With strong winds expected tonight, there is a risk of additional damage.
We strongly encourage residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary and to check in on vulnerable neighbours—only if it’s safe to do so.

Who can vote in the Ward 5 By-Election?
All residents of Ward 5 (including property owners, tenants, or boarders) who are Canadian Citizens, and will be at least 18 years old on April 10, 2025 may qualify as an elector in this by-election. -
Annual April burn ban in effect for Kawartha Lakes starting April 1, 2025Kawartha Lakes – In an effort to mitigate fire hazards, Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service has issued their annual April burn ban for the municipality. The burn ban will be in effect as of 12am on Tuesday April 1, 2025.

Temperature changes may affect appearance of drinking water; no safety concerns for residentsKawartha Lakes – With the fluctuations in temperature and warmer weather on its way, the Water and Wastewater Division would like to advise residents that although the water in municipal systems can become cloudy or greyish-coloured due to unseasonably warm temperatures during the day and colder temperatures at night, the water remains safe to drink.
