Municipal records
The Clerk's Office is responsible for recording, archiving, and disposing of corporate municipal records based on the Records Management By-law. If records are not available through a City Department, you may be able to locate the records with a request records from the permanent archives collection by e-mail.
A Freedom of Information Request may be required depending on the type of records requested. Certain fees may also apply.

If you are looking for the following records, please contact the appropriate organization, or City department:
- Ancestry and Genealogy: Kawartha Lakes Public Library
- Building Permits: Building Division
- Planning Information: Planning Division
- Police Reports: Kawartha Lakes Police Service or the Ontario Provincial Police
- Septic Tanks: Building Division
- Surveys, and Property Boundary Information: any local land surveyor
- Tax Bills, and current assessment roll books with property ownership information: Revenue and Taxation
- Titles, Deeds, and Mortgages registered on a property: Land Registry Office
Historic records and archives
Many historic public records and ancestry researching tools are available in the Reference Section of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library Lindsay branch.
You can make an appointment to view documents or artifacts not located at the Library by contacting the Records Centre. It stores permanent Municipal records for the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Workshops
Angela Fornelli, Manager of Corporate Records and Archival Services for Kawartha Lakes, hosted a free Caring for your family archives workshop. This workshop gave attendees the knowledge and skills to care and preserve their own family archives.
The workshop was featured in Season 2, Episode 20 of Spotlight Kawartha, Cable Cable channel #26 and Rogers Ignite channel #548.
