One Councillor is elected per ward. The Mayor is elected City-wide. The Deputy Mayor is selected by Council from the existing elected Councillors and they serve a one year term.

ABOUT THE MAYOR
The current Mayor is Doug Elmslie and he has been a full-time resident of Fenelon Falls since 1998, having previously lived in Oakville and various other cities around Eastern Canada. He was born in Cornwall and grew up in Montreal where he attended university. He has worked in various administrative management positions at Bank of Montreal, Domtar and CIL.
Doug was first elected in 2006 as Councillor for then Ward 6 (now known as Ward 3) and served four consecutive terms as Councillor. He was elected Mayor in 2022. He has sat on several boards and committees, including Police Services, CPAC, HKPR Health Unit, KLH Housing Corp., Planning Advisory Committee, Eastern Ontario Wardens Caucus, Victoria Manor Management Board, Lake Management Planning, Source Water Protection and various Fenelon Falls volunteer committees.
Doug is currently married and has three children, two step-children, and five grandchildren. In his free time, Doug enjoys several hobbies and interests, including travel, golf, curling, baseball and reading.
