Maryboro Lodge Museum

Built in 1837 by James Wallis, one of the founders of the town, the lodge sits in an ancient bur oak grove at the confluence of Cameron Lake and the Fenelon River.

After changing hands through the years, Maryboro Lodge became a community museum in 1963, thanks to dedicated efforts by the local historical society to preserve this symbol of Fenelon Pavilion’s early era. In the early 2010s, the building underwent careful restoration- including the addition of the Langton Gallery, inspired by the parlour of Blythe Farm- to provide a venue for rotating special exhibits alongside permanent displays.

Today, the museum and collection is owned by the City of Kawartha Lakes and operated by a dedicated group of volunteers and staff. It continues to offer a vibrant mix of historical and interactive experiences: from pioneer-era artifacts and environmental history exhibits to a one-room schoolhouse program, family fun days, live music, and heirloom‑recipe afternoon teas.
