What is public art?
Public art is artwork created for public spaces where it can be experienced by everyone. Public art can be found in parks, downtowns and public spaces throughout the municipality.
It can include:
- Murals
- Sculptures
- Temporary art installations
- Artwork incorporated into buildings or public spaces
- Artist-designed features within streetscapes or community spaces
Public art may be permanent or temporary.
The City's Public Art Policy currently defines public art broadly as visual art installed in the public realm, including permanent installations, artist collaborations with architecture or landscape design, and temporary installations.
