Welcome to the historic walking tour of communities in Kawartha Lakes. As you explore the towns and villages through this historic lens, we hope that you can envision how various socio-economic factors played a role in their evolution.   

While driving or walking, you will get an idea of what life was like for those who travelled by horse and wagon, canoe, steamship, or train to settle and visit the area. From stores, garages, and lime companies, to hotels, lodges, and jails, these buildings tell the story of a growing community built on commerce, industry, and tourism.

Many of the landmarks built during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century can still be seen today. They remind visitors and residents about Kawartha Lakes' bustling past and add a unique historic charm to this region.
