Kawartha Lakes - Kawartha Lakes Public Library is inviting residents to help shape the future of the library by participating in a new community survey launching this week.
As Kawartha Lakes continues to grow, the library needs to grow with it. To guide this development, the library is working with Nordicity Consulting to create a Growth Management Plan, a strategic roadmap to plan for the next ten years of library spaces, collections, services, and programs. This is your opportunity to help shape what the future looks like.

The City of Kawartha Lakes has advanced the detailed design of a new bridge crossing over the Scugog River, connecting Colborne Street East and Colborne Street West (see figure below) in the Town of Lindsay. This detailed design work builds on the preliminary design recommendations of the original 1994 Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) and the 2000 EA Addendum. Due to the time that has passed since the last EA update, an additional EA Addendum is being undertaken to reconfirm the findings of the previous assessment and fulfill current requirements under the Municipal Class EA process (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2023).

Administration Offices
All Administration and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Tuesday July 1. Municipal Service Centres will return to regular business hours on Wednesday July 2.
Kawartha Lakes – Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Kawartha Lakes as a prolonged heat event is set to begin today, Sunday June 22, 2025. Dangerously hot and humid temperatures are expected to last through at least Tuesday June 24.
Kawartha Lakes – There’s a heat wave coming this week. Per Environment Canada, temperatures in Kawartha Lakes are expected to break the 30° Celsius (C) mark starting Sunday June 22 through at least Tuesday June 24.
UPDATE - 11am on Thursday June 26: Due to impending inclement weather, the Lindsay Downtown Summer Kickoff is being moved from Friday June 27 to Friday July 4. This release has been updated to reflect the change.
Kawartha Lakes – Nominations for the City of Kawartha Lakes Osprey Heritage Awards are now open. Nominations will be accepted until September 15, 2025.
The Kawartha Lakes Municipal Heritage Committee is looking for nominations for the 2025 Osprey Heritage Awards. Every other year, the Committee recognizes and celebrate outstanding projects and contributions that have promoted and preserved community heritage within Kawartha Lakes.
Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes is proud to recognize and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, 2025. This Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to reflect on the Seven Sacred Teachings of the Anishinaabeg, which focus on living the unifying values of humility, bravery, honesty, wisdom, truth, respect, and love. This important day honours the historic and current rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada.
