Kawartha Lakes – The Medical Officer of Health has directed the City of Kawartha Lakes to issue a Drinking Water Advisory on Saturday March 29, 2025, due to a loss of pressure in the drinking water system.
This tap water can make you ill. The elderly, the very young and people with weakened immune systems are most at risk.

Kawartha Lakes – With the Ward 5 By-Election at our doorstep, please be advised of the following information and ensure you are prepared to vote for a new City Councillor.
Who can vote in the Ward 5 By-Election?
All residents of Ward 5 (including property owners, tenants, or boarders) who are Canadian Citizens, and will be at least 18 years old on April 10, 2025 may qualify as an elector in this by-election.
Kawartha Lakes – In an effort to mitigate fire hazards, Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service has issued their annual April burn ban for the municipality. The burn ban will be in effect as of 12am on Tuesday April 1, 2025.
Kawartha Lakes – With the fluctuations in temperature and warmer weather on its way, the Water and Wastewater Division would like to advise residents that although the water in municipal systems can become cloudy or greyish-coloured due to unseasonably warm temperatures during the day and colder temperatures at night, the water remains safe to drink.
Kawartha Lakes – In 2021, the Words While We Wait public art initiative gave residents an opportunity to share their experiences of the pandemic through poetry, displayed in Kawartha Lakes Public Transit shelters. That initiative provided a meaningful way to document a collective moment in time.
Kawartha Lakes – Users of the municipal drinking water system in Oakwood may experience periods of pressure fluctuations and/or low pressure on Tuesday March 25, 2025 due to system upgrades and the required temporary shutdown of the Oakwood Reservoir.

Kawartha Lakes - Staff are conducting pressure tests today in the Oakwood Drinking Water System. Some residents may experience pressure fluctuations. These are temporary and pressure will resume when the testing is complete.
UPDATE: The blockage was removed by the MNR/Parks Canada last night (March 20), water is flowing normally and the flood risk at the Kinmount Dam has been mitigated.
