Summer Company Program

Show us what you’ve got.

Calling all student entrepreneurs! Join our Summer Company program funded by the Government of Ontario and get the mentoring and resources you need to launch and grow your small business. You will also be eligible for a grant of up to $3,000 towards your business!

Applications will open March 1, 2026. The deadline to apply is May 17, 2026.

 Eligibility:

  • Are you a student currently enrolled in full time education?        
  • Will you be between the ages of 15 - 29 by April 30, 2026?         
  • Are you a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident living in Ontario?        
  • Are you starting a brand-new business?    
  • Do you plan to run your summer business in Ontario?    
  • Not received a Summer Company Grant award in the past?
  • Will your business operate independently from any family business ventures?
  • Does your business fall under any of the following categories? (if yes, it is not eligible for funding)
  • Partnerships/co-operatives, franchises, distributorships
  • Commissioned sales, multi-level marketing ventures
  • Single events (DJ gigs, concerts, fundraisers, etc.)
  • Will you be employed elsewhere or attending summer school for more than 12 hours a week?
  • Can you commit to the mandatory monthly mentorship meetings?           
  • Will you commit to the mandatory Training Program?     
  • Can you commit to an average of 35 hours a week to run your business?

The Application Process

Review the information about the Summer Company program above. If you have questions about the program or your eligibility, contact the Kawartha Lakes Small Business Centre (KLSBC).

Complete your application. The KLSBC will be available to support you in this process.

If your application package is successful, you will be invited for an interview. Following the interview, a final decision will be made regarding your acceptance to the SC program.
