Holding Tank Registration
You only need to register your holding tank if your property is outside Kawartha Lakes and you bring septage to the Lindsay Septage Disposal Station.
How to register
Complete the Holding Tank Registration Form online or pick up a form at any Municipal Service Centre.
Once your registration is processed, the City will mail you confirmation and your septage number.
Your septage number is used by the City for administrative purposes. It is not connected to the Health Unit.
Using a sewage hauler
All sewage haulers that bring waste to City facilities are registered with the City. Give your septage number to your sewage hauler when arranging service.

Septage haulers must register with the City before bringing septage to City facilities.
How to register
- Contact the Finance Department at 705-324-9411 extension 1222 to request and complete a credit application to set up an account.
- Once your account is approved, Finance will provide directions to the Lindsay Operations Landfill.
- Contact the Waste Management Supervisor at 705-324-9411 extension 1133 to arrange a meeting at the landfill.
- At the meeting, you will receive a manifest package with:
- Instructions for registering as a septage hauler
- Septage manifests
- A copy of [By-law 2016-219, governing septage disposal at City sewage works]
Septage disposal rates
Septage disposal rates are different for haulers operating within and outside Kawartha Lakes.
Haulers bringing septage from outside Kawartha Lakes are also charged an administration fee based on the weight of the septage.
