    Osprey Heritage Award nominations are now open

    Kawartha Lakes – Nominations for the City of Kawartha Lakes Osprey Heritage Awards are now open. Nominations will be accepted until September 15, 2025.  

    The Kawartha Lakes Municipal Heritage Committee is looking for nominations for the 2025 Osprey Heritage Awards. Every other year, the Committee recognizes and celebrate outstanding projects and contributions that have promoted and preserved community heritage within Kawartha Lakes.

    Kawartha Lakes celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, 2025

    Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes is proud to recognize and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, 2025. This Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to reflect on the Seven Sacred Teachings of the Anishinaabeg, which focus on living the unifying values of humility, bravery, honesty, wisdom, truth, respect, and love. This important day honours the historic and current rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada.

    Changes coming to Lindsay Transit’s Red Route starting Sunday June 29, 2025

    Kawartha Lakes – Lindsay Transit is updating the Red Route to improve route efficiency and better serve the community.

    Starting on Sunday June 29, the following changes will take effect:

    New stop at Lindsay Exhibition: the Red Route will add a stop at the Lindsay Exhibition on Exhibition Drive. After picking up or dropping off passengers, the bus will proceed to Nelson Way and use the bus turnaround loop to return to Exhibition Drive and continue on Angeline Street South.

    Parks and Recreation Storm Clean-up Update – June 13, 2025

    Kawartha Lakes – Parks and Recreation is making progress on outdoor space clean-up from the 2025 Ice Storm.

    As staff work tirelessly to cleanup from all the damage, these spaces are beginning to open back up for public use.

    Parks and Recreation will continue sharing weekly updates stating which spaces are open and which spaces remain closed. Please stay safe in all areas and away from those that still remain closed.

    Take notice, that the Committee of Adjustment of the City of Kawartha Lakes will hold a Public Meeting on June 26, 2025 at 1:00pm in the Council Chambers City Hall, 26 Francis Street, Lindsay, Ontario, to consider minor variance/permission applications, D20-2025-046, D20-2025-047, D20-2025-048, D20-2025-049, D20-2025-050, D20-2025-051, D20-2025-052, D20-2025-053, D20-2025-054 and D20-2025-055. A number of applications will be considered at this meeting. The applications are considered in the order that they appear on the Agenda and it may take some time before an application is dealt with at the meeting.     June is Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month

    Kawartha Lakes – June is Myasthenia Gravis (MG) Awareness Month, a time to learn about a rare and often misunderstood disease that affects the body’s muscles. Myasthenia Gravis is a long-term autoimmune disorder that causes extreme tiredness and serious muscle weakness. It can make everyday things very difficult: like walking, smiling, talking, or even breathing.

    On June 9, the lights at City Hall in Lindsay will shine purple in recognition and support of Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month.
